bad news bears

Our sweet little angel has some form of eczema and it is heart breaking. Her doctors says to use lotions like ucerin, cetaphil or things like that, that don't have scents. It's mainly in the folds of her arms and it itches her all the time. Well, this particular sunday night We had the missionaries over for dinner and she was not herself. She started to get a fever and fell asleep earlier than normal. I thought she was getting sick from some of the other kids because of nursery but that proved to not be true. She was up all night long crying and scratching. Finally the next morning and for a couple of days her eczema was getting worse and worse. It almost looked like third degree burns and I felt like the worst mom ever. The rash was on her face, arms like usual but worse this time, on her knees and legs and all over her bum like blisters. Her little feet had little blood dots the doctor called "petecheia" (sp). Apparently it's bleeding under the skin. Anyways I finally took her to the doctor and they were stumped. They asked me questions but the answers were what they were not expecting. She hadn't had another fever, she was eating fine, and she was happy except for the itching. I had been putting cortizone on it to help and it was helping but not enough. The PA couldn't figure it out what it was so she went and got Dr. Needle. He took a look and then they both left. Later the PA came back and she she explained to me about the petecheia and how if Paisley gets a fever or starts acting any different or gets more blood dots that I needed to take her to the ER right away. She explained that Paisley had an infection externally and they didn't want it to go internal. I was frustrated and overwhelmed but knew it would be okay. The PA and doctor were so helpful thank heavens. She wrote Paisley a couple heavy perscriptions and wanted to see her again the next afternoon. The perscriptions Bactrum (sp) and Cephalxin (sp) helped right away. The next day when we went back in she already looked tons better. So apparntly she had an eczema flare up and the itching caused a staph infection. Yuck! I'm so glad it's over. The poor thing looked miserable. I'm so glad I took her in. I was thinking I could handle this rash on my own. What was I thinking?

  1. Oh poor baby!! I am so so sorry! It's the worst when your little one is sick/hurting and there isn't much that mom or dad can do about it :( I hope it clears up quick. We are thinking about you guys!!
